On Tuesday, November 18, 2008, state negotiators delivered a “take it or leave it” package to our bargaining teams. The state package proposes no wage increases and no equity adjustments in the contract. In addition the state is seeking to reject and withdraw many proposals still being negotiated and to bar any new proposals. The state has proposed 19 unpaid furlough days, elimination of two paid holidays, limitations on overtime and elimination of premium pay for holidays. In response, members of our District Labor Council participated in solidarity breaks at many of our worksites including the Department of Consumer Affairs at 2005 Evergreen Street and at the State Controller's Office at 10600 White Rock Road, both pictured below.
